Dunn Recovery and Behavioral Healthcare Services (“Dunn Recovery,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates this website at dunnrecovery.com. This policy explains what information we collect through the website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Please read the section below on the difference between website information and treatment records. It matters, and it is easy to miss.
Two different kinds of information
Information you give us through this website — your name, phone number, email address, and anything you write in a message form — is covered by this policy.
Treatment records are different. If you become a client of Dunn Recovery, the records created during your care are protected by federal health privacy laws that are stricter than this policy: the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and 42 CFR Part 2, which specifically governs records relating to substance use disorder treatment. Those records are covered by a separate Notice of Privacy Practices, which is provided to you at admission. If you would like a copy before then, call us and we will send one.
Contacting us through this website does not make you a client, and information submitted through a web form is not a treatment record.
Information we collect
Information you provide directly. Our contact forms ask for your name, phone number, and email address, and give you space to write a message. You choose what to put in that message. We only receive what you send us.
We do not ask for insurance policy numbers, dates of birth, medical history, or diagnostic information through this website. Please do not include that information in a web form. If you need to discuss those details, call us at (951) 566-6154 and we will take them over the phone.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our web server records basic technical information when you visit — your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. This is standard server logging and is used to keep the site running and secure.
Cookies. Our website uses cookies that are necessary for the site to function, such as supporting site security and remembering your preferences.
Our website also currently sets a small number of cookies placed by third-party services. These include analytics and site-verification services that assign a visitor identifier in order to recognize returning visits. We are reviewing these services and removing any that are not necessary to operate the site. When that review is complete we will update this section to reflect exactly what remains.
We do not run advertising cookies on this website, and we do not sell or share the information these cookies collect.

How we use your information
We use the information you submit to:

- Contact you about treatment at Dunn Recovery, if that is what you have asked about

How we share your information

- Service providers. Our website host and email provider process information on our behalf in order to run the website and deliver messages. They are permitted to use it only for that purpose.
- Legal requirements. If we are required to disclose information by law, court order, subpoena, or a government request we are legally obliged to honor.
- Safety. If we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm to you or another person.
If you become a client, disclosure of your treatment records is governed by HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, not by this policy. Under 42 CFR Part 2, we generally may not confirm to anyone that you are or have been a client without your written consent, including to family members.
How long we keep information
We keep website inquiries for as long as needed to respond to you and to maintain a record of the contact, and then for as long as required by applicable law. Treatment records are retained according to California licensing requirements and federal law.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information submitted through this site, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
No method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. That is the reason we ask you not to send medical or insurance details through a web form.
Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the following rights regarding personal information we collect through this website:
- The right to know what personal information we have collected about you, where we got it, why we collected it, and who we have shared it with.

How to exercise these rights. Email us at Dunnrecovery1@gmail.com or call (951) 566-6154. We will need to verify your identity before acting on your request, which usually means confirming information you previously gave us. We will respond within 45 days, and will tell you if we need more time.
Authorized agents. You may designate someone to make a request on your behalf. We may ask them for proof of authorization and may ask you to verify your identity directly.
An important limit. Medical information governed by HIPAA, the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act, and 42 CFR Part 2 is exempt from CCPA. The rights described above apply to information collected through this website, not to treatment records. Your rights regarding treatment records come from HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 and are, in most respects, broader. Call us and we will explain how they apply to you.
California Shine the Light. California residents may request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not make such disclosures.
Children’s privacy
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through this website. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

This website may contain links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of websites we do not operate. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted on this page.
